Q: What is the difference in your kits ?
A: All our kits have the same quality tarps and bungees. The main difference is strength and reliability. Here is a list of kits starting with the least reliable Standard Starter, Heavy starter, Basic , Standard and Standard Full, and Standard Heavy

Q: What is the difference between standard starter and heavy starter ?
A: All our kits have the same commerical quality tarp and ball bungee. Starting with the Heavy starter, we send our heavy duty ridge connectors. The Standard starter is still a good kit. but its just like every body elses. (only at a more reasonable price)

Q: What is the difference between starter and basic ?
A: Stability, Basic kits have support arms on the ends which form a truss and the tarp can be secured all the way around. Starter kits, more suscceptible to wind damage with no support on ends

Q: What is the difference between Basic and Standard
A: Standard kit has an extra truss in the middle giveng it more strength, space between trusses is 4-5 feet compared to 8-10 feet with the basic Less chance of water pooling on top causing damage because of limbs blowen on top or weight of toys, snow etc

Q: Difference between Standard and Standard Heavy ?
A: Standard/Heavy has 2 extra trusses in between the ends, space between trusses is 2-1/2,- 3'4" making this even stronger and more reliable to Weight on top of kennel

Q: I have a size kennel , you don't have listed can you help me?
A: Since we manafucture our frames 99% of time we can shorten or lengthen a steel frame, we are only limited by the size of tarps we can get at a reasonable price, I wouldn't want you have to buy a custom replacement tarp at 5 times the price.

Q: I bought a shade kit from a different Co. that looks like yours and it caved in ... will yours do that?
A: It could If you don't follow instructions and of course you can't fool with mother nature. The most common mistake that makes any tarp shade kit fail is tarp is to long for the frame and inproper installation. Tarps need to be kept taut, which means tarp should be no less than 2-3 inches shorter than the frame in front. A tarp that is not tight will pool and you could lose your kennel or even worst, injure you pet. Our kits are shorter than the size of your kennel for this purpose (been ther done that)

Q: Your kit seem to be shorter than the kennel. I want a kit that covers the whole kennel ?
A: Most kennels panels have corners that have a radius (ROUND CORNERS)you lose 6"-8" on each end. So you have to install a shorter frame and tarp has to be shorter to be kept taut. Our dog still has adequate shade and rain protection. If you still want full coverage you need to look at the FULL FRAME kit

Q: Are your kits water proof ?
A: Yes our 4ply 100% sunblocker tarps are also water proof.
Q: How long will my shade kit last ?
A: The steel frame should last as long and most likely longer than your kennel. The tarps are rated 1 year. In my region, they are lasting a year, sometimes longer. Durability of the tarp depends on the UV factor of the sun and the acid rain in your area.

A: You can can our office , 785-249-7898 or you can e-mail at sales@shadenthings.com

Q: What is the big difference with your tarps ?
A: Our sunblocker tarps are just that, thicker 4-ply, not 3-ply. And, they are much cooler than discount silver tarps. If you hold a discount tarp up to the light and place your hand behind it, you will see the shadow of you hand. Rule of thumb is, if you can see light of the sun, more heat will penetrate through the tarp.

Q: What kit is right for my kennel ?
A: I started like everyone else, threw a blue tarp on top of my kennel. When it rained, the water pooled in the middle of the tarp which caved in the kennel. I then went to single ridge cover but that was not a good idea for our Kansas winds. Next, I came up with a basic type of kenel cover and experimented with different pitches, high, low etc. The pitch I offer now is by far the best all-around shade/rain system. The most care-free and worry-free shade kit is the standard/heavy kit. Here are some suggestions: The basic for 6' and 7-1/2' wide kennels is suggested for all deep southern and mostly sunny regions of the country. The standard kit is recommended for the lower mid-states and for windy locations. The standard heavy kit is suggested especialy for all 10' and 12' wide kennels, all kennels in the upper 2/3 of the country, and any mountainous, windy locations.
